Join Women in Brand members as we take a trip to the movies to watch The Social Reckoning - a film that dramatizes the real-life events of the 2021 Facebook whistleblower leak. It follows Frances Haugen, a young engineer at Facebook, who grows deeply concerned by internal research showing the platform's negative impacts on teen mental health and its role in spreading misinformation and political division. Haugen secretly copies thousands of internal documents—known as "The Facebook Files"—and enlists the help of Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz. Together, they embark on a dangerous, high-stakes journey to expose the company's guarded secrets and force accountability onto its leadership, culminating in public congressional testimony and a global reckoning for the tech giant.
After our book club selection of 'Careless People', we felt like we needed a follow up - and a trip to the movies is just what the cosy months ordered! Even if you aren't a member or are brand new to our network, all are welcome for this cinema trip in Oxford to make new friends, connect, and get inspired.
RSVP for free and we'll email you movie times and location details. See you soon!
