The Good Communicator Workshop 5: How to Overcome the Most Common Barriers in Communication

Thu 26 Jun 2025 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM BST Online, Zoom

About The Good Communicator Series: How to master the art of communicating sustainability to make it irresistible.

Despite the growing public interest in sustainability, the planet is still warming up year on year, with catastrophic consequences. Resistance to change, vested interests in industry and contradictory legislation all contribute to this slow progress.

Businesses have a key role to play in addressing the issue before it’s too late, and sustainability professionals like you can accelerate this transformation with more effective and tailored communication.

Rather than simply conveying facts and data, discover how to inspire and influence others by crafting your message so that you can collaborate and co-create new futures.

Using a practical, proven framework based on coaching and negotiation techniques this series of workshops, delivered by Virginia Cinquemani, accredited sustainability coach and author of The Good Communicator. How to make Sustainability Irresistible. (2025), demystifies the approach to influencing others, eliminating the frustration you experience in the boardroom and office, and empowering you to make more impact.

Your words can inspire decision-makers to commit to action beyond words: better communication is key to solving the climate crisis.

This training session is the fifth of six workshops - book onto all 6 sessions to complete the course!

(You'll be able to access the recordings and resources from any live sessions you've missed or are unable to attend live).

Workshop 5: How to Overcome the Most Common Barriers in Communication

We often think that our clients just don’t care as much as we do about sustainability. Although this might be true, the reality is that, sometimes, our own language and attitude might create tension and put up barriers with our audience.

What you’ll learn:
In this workshop, Virginia will address the two main barriers to effective sustainability communication: our own style of communication, and our audience’s objections and (sometimes) unpersuadable character traits. This session will help you:

  • Identify and address common objections and pushbacks
  • Use storytelling and reframing to make sustainability compelling
  • Turn challenging conversations into opportunities for influence

Who is this for?

This series is for sustainability professionals at any career stage who struggle to convince their boards, clients, or teams to prioritize sustainability. If you’ve ever felt frustrated by resistance, skepticism, or lack of engagement, these workshops will equip you with the tools to communicate sustainability effectively!
