#EnvironmenstrualWeek Webinar
1-2pm BST 18th October 2023 on Zoom
Why do we need a Menstrual Health, Dignity and Sustainability Act?
Join us this #EnvironmenstrualWeek for a lively discussion about why we need a Menstrual, Health, Dignity and Sustainability Act.
Our guest speakers:
- Dr. Njoki Ngumi is a healthcare expert, filmmaker, writer, producer and strategist
- Assembly Member Linda B. Rosenthal, New York State
- Helen Lynn, Wen Health Advisor and Environmenstrual Campaign Manager
How is it that a product used by millions of women, girls and people who menstruate is not properly regulated? How can we hope to address issues like period poverty unless we can talk about menstruation? Why are we still trying to break down the stigma and taboos around periods in the 21st century?
Menstruation is a human rights and public health issue. The only way we can address the health and waste impacts, equity and dignity, period poverty, education and regulation, and challenge existing stigma and taboos of this multifaceted issue is to take an intersectional approach.
With places such as New York State, Kenya and Catalonia leading the way on menstrual rights, what can we learn from these countries? What are the issues women and people with periods face day in day out? How could an Act change this for the better?
This one hour lunchtime chat will be interactive too - with time for you to pose questions to our experts.
Come join the conversation. This is free to join, register now.
