The WHN 34th Annual Conference Celebrating the Centenary of the Women’s Library and 100 Years of Women's History (1926-2026)
Our 34th annual conference coincides with the centenary of the founding of The Women’s Library, and provides the perfect opportunity to celebrate this unique resource, as well as 100 years of women’s history. The Women’s Library is the oldest and largest library in Britain devoted to the history of women’s campaigning and activism and encompasses a library, an archive and a museum. Founded in 1926 as the Library of the London Society for Women’s Service, it became the Fawcett Library in 1957 and was renamed The Women’s Library in 2002. It has moved several times, finding permanent residence at the LSE in 2013.
Locations
Thursday: LSE LIbrary and Shaw LIbrary, Houghton Street. London WC2A 2AE
Friday: Friends House, 173 - 177 Euston Road, London NW1 2BJ
Stay tuned for the full programme for both days! You can contact us with any questions at whnconference2026@gmail.com

Your guide’s Bio
Like Paddington Bear, I'm not native to Britain. However, I've lived in the UK for over 35 years and have worked in the diverse melting pot of London in the borough of Camden for nearly 20! Keen to explore hidden treasures in the less-trodden side streets, I’m always curious about places I pass by and the historical connections between various people, organisations and areas.
If you want to discover London through the eyes of a local, I'm not only a qualified guide in the borough of Camden (from Holborn up to Hampstead and Highgate) but am also superbly skilled in sheep farming, statistics and first aid. Since 2024, I've been a volunteer guide for theFoundling Museum, and with this guided walk, I am raising money for Coram, the UK’s oldest children’s charity which evolved out of the Foundling Hospital.
