Women's History Scotland deliver online socials for members throughout the year. These socials are a fantastic way to connect with other members in a relaxed environment. All members, both new and returning, are very welcome.
This month Meg Hyland, a PhD candidate in Celtic and Scottish Studies, will deliver a talk on her research on the role of music and dance in the lives of itinerant herring gutters in the British and Irish fishing industries from the mid-19th to mid-20th centuries. Meg will also discuss her different approaches to public history, focussing on her talks and song workshops about the herring gutters, and her online art and storytelling for the Women of 1000 AD project.
Before attending, we kindly ask that you read our Values Statement, which underpins all our activities. We value the experiences, skills, knowledge, and diversity of every woman, regardless of her background or circumstances. We are fully committed to diversity, respecting human rights, and creating opportunities for access, inclusion, and participation across Scotland. We are also dedicated to providing a friendly, professional, and non-discriminatory environment, ensuring that our Steering Committee members, partners, volunteers, users, and supporters treat each other—and are treated—with dignity and respect.
If you sign up for the social, the organisers will send you a Zoom link by email shortly before the event. We hope to see you there!
