Make Beautiful Prints Without Knowing How to Draw
An introduction to gel plate printmaking

Never considered yourself an artist? No problem. Gel plate printing is easy to learn, endlessly experimental, and very forgiving. You don't need prior experience or a particular artistic skill level. Just bring your curiosity (and maybe a friend) and see what happens!

WonderStump cofounder and artist Kirsten Bjore earned her BFA with a focus on illustration, printmaking, book arts and has continued practicing and teaching these disciplines throughout her life. She loves helping people discover the possibilities of experimental printmaking. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn how to:

  • Use and care for gel plates, brayers, paints, and other tools
  • Explore color, composition, layering, and texture
  • Create botanical prints using leaves, flowers, and other natural materials
  • Manipulate the plate directly to create marks and textures
  • Build layers to create depth and complexity
  • Choose colors that work together
  • Find supplies and resources to continue printing at home

You'll have plenty of time to experiment, play, and develop your own style. Everyone goes home with at least 3 finished prints.

Registration includes one adult admission to WonderStump's immersive art exhibit on the day of the workshop. Come early and explore the exhibit before class!
