Tag Fest '26 Wooden Spoon International Tag Rugby Festival [82025V26]

TEAM REGISTRATION for Tag Fest 26 is now open.

The annual Wooden Spoon International Tag Rugby Festival is back. "Tag Fest" is being hosted once again by our friends at Broadstreet Rugby Club near Coventry.

We are inviting teams from across England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and beyond to take part in the following categories:

• Under 15 years MLD Tag
• Over 15 years MLD Tag
• Under 15 years SLD Tag
• Over 15 years SLD Tag

Squads of 12 with 7 players on the pitch at any one time (not including facilitators).  Minimum player age is 8 years.

**In order to adapt and listen to feedback from teams from 2025 & 2024 Tag Festivals, we will be increasing the game / match opportunities as follows:

MLD Teams (both age groups) will go straight into game play in a tournament style schedule, with games before and after lunch. We will be using a scheduling app called 'Tournify'. The match time will still be in line with RFU guidelines.

SLD Teams (Over 15's) will be similar to previous years in progression throughout the day, starting with skills related games and finishing with matches. There will however be a slightly increased match time to last year.

SLD (under 15's) will be very similar to previous Tag Fests with progression throughout the day, ending with some matches.

**Wooden Spoon Tag Fest has always been about fun and inclusion and this hasn't changed, however we do have a duty to our teams to listen to feedback and react and develop the event in line with this collaboration between clubs / teams. We will not lose sight of the need to support and deliver an event that caters for as many children as possible and we believe with some of these tweaks, Tag Fest will remain to be a great day for all.

We will provide lunch and supper for players, there will be a post tournament / evening disco following the event which all players, coaches, parents and guardians are encouraged to attend along with our special guests and ambassadors.   

We hope traveling teams will treat the tournament as an opportunity to "go on tour".   We anticipate teams will travel to Coventry on Friday or early Saturday morning and stay overnight in local team hotels before returning home on Sunday.

If you want to bring a team the first thing to do is to register your team.   The entry fee is £50 per team.   This fee secures your team's place in the festival.

Once you have secured your place your team may be eligible for a Wooden Spoon Grant to support some your travel and accommodation costs.

Nearer the time you will be asked to register players and provide us with any additional needs and or dietary requirements that we need to consider.

NOTE: If you would like to enter a second, third or even fourth team in the same category this will be permitted AFTER the 1st Feb 2026 subject to spaces available - we will do our best to accommodate additional teams.
