Rawhaw Wood is a semi-natural ancient woodland, a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and part of the Rockingham Forest, which is situated in north Northamptonshire. The wood has had a long history of being coppiced, and over the last 30 years Hugh and Carolyn have been restoring the woodland reintroducing the coppice cycle, to recreate and example of a working hazel coppice.

The guided walk will incorporate the various stages of the coppice cycle, taking into account the different habitats that this form of management creates. Other topics will include the strategies that have been used in bringing the woodland back into management, the building of dead hedges as protection from deer browsing, the management of the standard trees, the large oaks and ash, and also leaving some areas with little or no management.
