On 6 June, as part of the Woodland Heritage Open Woods & Workshops programme, B Corp furniture and lighting company Matthew Cox will open their doors for a behind-the-scenes gathering for anyone curious about craft and wood.

Throughout the day, we’ll run tours giving visitors a chance to see how our furniture and lighting are made and to understand our approach to making. From stacks of seasoned timber to finely sanded and finished pieces, you’ll see the process up close and meet the team.

For those keen to have a go, there will be the chance to finish your own chopping board. Choose from a selection of timbers and our team will guide you through sanding and oiling, leaving you with something simple, beautiful and useful to keep.

On the tour, you’ll be able to handle examples of our furniture, as well as some of the antiques that Matthew draws on for design inspiration.

We’d love to meet the next generation of furniture makers, so we’re offering discounted tickets for under 18s and students. Under 16s should be accompanied by an adult.

There will be homemade cakes and cookies, along with tea, coffee and soft drinks.

The toilets on site are up 3 steps so not wheelchair accessible. There is however a garden centre nearby with wheelchair accessible toilets.

Parking on site is limited to 10-15 cars.
