What dye bearing plants are available for the natural dyer while out for a walk? We take a look at common Irish dye plants and mordants, their history and how to use them to make our own unique, naturally dyed yarns.

Diarmuid will bring along dyed samples and get everyone interacting with the pieces, so the effects of (for example) different mordants can be appreciated in the pieces.

Students will leave with a knowledge and appreciation of the natural dye process, so they can begin experimenting as soon as they return home. (No dyeing will take during the talk.)
