Iconic UK photographers Eddie Otchere and Simon Wheatley come together to explore their documentary origins and evolution into chroniclers of some of Britain’s most influential music and youth cultures.

Eddie and Simon will discuss their influences and inspirations, their approaches to documentary photography, and the extraordinary people and scenes they have encountered along the way.

Eddie Otchere - From Goldie and Metalheadz to Wu-Tang Clan, The Notorious B.I.G., Aaliyah, Roni Size, Fabio, Grooverider and Aphex Twin, Eddie Otchere has spent three decades photographing the artists and scenes that transformed underground culture. His work has appeared in major publications and is now held in the collections of both the National Portrait Gallery and V&A.

Simon Wheatley - One of the defining photographers of the birth of grime, Simon spent years documenting East London and the artists emerging from it, including Skepta, Dizzee Rascal, Wiley, Kano, Giggs and JME. His landmark book Don’t Call Me Urban! The Time of Grime has become an important visual record of the scene, with his work featured by The Guardian, Dazed and beyond.

Together, Eddie and Simon will take us behind their photography and the stories that shaped it - from their beginnings in documentary photography to decades spent chronicling jungle, drum & bass, hip-hop, grime and the changing streets of London.
