We invite you to bring your family to our short concert introducing the members of the woodwind family! This lovely children’s concert will be presented by Sarah Harper on oboe, Sarah Thurlow on clarinet, alongside Karen Jones on flute, and Jo Stark on bassoon. The concert will be about 40 minutes, contain many different styles of music and get the children fascinated by the wonderful world of woodwind instruments. Tickets £10 (concessions available) kids come free and are welcome to sing, dance, and go in and out of the concert as they wish - the atmosphere is very relaxed and informal - crying babies are also welcome!
You may have heard Karen Jones in last year’s May concert, Double Trouble - you will certainly have heard her on the many, many film and TV soundtracks in which she is featured. Karen’s son Louis played trumpet in our very first group of concerts in 2021. Sarah Harper will be on oboe - we are very excited to welcome Sarah to the Worlds End Music family. (Sarah’s husband Andy played memorably in our ‘Concert for Ukraine’ last May and their son made my day at our ‘Strings family concert’ in 2021 when he claimed that cello bow hair was made from a lion’s mane!) Sarah freelances with all the major London orchestras and lives down the road in Mary Cray. On clarinet we are delighted to welcome Sarah Thurlow. Sarah was born in Bromley and her early music studies were at the Bromley Youth Music Trust. She is now a freelancer with all the usual suspects! Last but not least, we have Jo Stark on bassoon. Jo is the bassoon coach in the National Children’s Orchestra as well as being a busy freelancer.
Worlds End Music is currently setting up as a charitable organisation. The musicians get paid - after that any profit goes to a nominated charity. Today’s concerts will be donating to Bromley Brighter Beginnings, a charitable organisation currently raising money for ‘A Healthy Home for Every Child’, helping families in need in the local area. Worlds End Music is an inclusive organisation and we recognise that some people may find the current cost of living crisis a problem - anyone in this situation who would like to bring their family to either concert, please select the ‘Pay what I Can’ ticket option after you click ‘Buy Tickets’. Then simply fill in what you can afford.
