Come and join us for a fabulous concert featuring the woodwind family. A quartet of local professional musicians will guide you through a delightful hour, exploring the world of woodwinds. The concert will be our usual format of an hour of music and chat, followed by an informal Q&A. Featuring one musician who has already wowed us at previous Worlds End Music concerts and introducing three new friends, the line-up will be -
Karen Jones flute. (Played for us in Double Trouble last May). Karen is a world renowned flautist, whom you will often have heard without knowing in the many, many big screen movies she has played solos for. Karen lives in Chelsfield and her son, Louis, played in the first group of Worlds End concerts back in 2021.
Sarah Harper, oboe. Living in St Mary Cray, Sarah is a successful freelancer, working in the major London orchestras, teaching and doing West End shows. Her husband, Andy, appeared in our ‘Concert for Ukraine’, playing cheeky Gershwin and their son was a superstar in our first children’s concert, where he had us convinced that the cello bow was not strung with horsehair, but LION hair! We’re delighted to have Sarah join us for her first Worlds End Music concert as a player!
Sarah Thurlow, clarinet - Sarah is a true local, having been born in Bromley and doing her early music studies at Bromley Youth Music Trust. Now also a freelancer, Sarah has worked with too many orchestras to list, as well as performing concertos with the Philharmonia and BBC Concert Orchestra.
And last but definitely not least, Jo Stark, bassoon. Coming from outside the local area in a break from tradition, is bassoonist Jo. Also a hugely successful freelancer, Jo spends time coaching the National Children’s Orchestra bassoon section and teaching at the Junior Royal Academy in London.
Worlds End Music is working to become a charitable organisation - our financial model is that once the musicians have been paid, any profit will go to a nominated charity. Tonight’s concert will be donating to Bromley Brighter Beginnings, a charitable organisation currently raising money for ‘A Healthy Home for Every Child’, helping families in need in the local area.
Worlds End Music is an inclusive organisation and we recognise that some people may find the current cost of living crisis a problem - anyone in this situation who would like to bring their family to either concert, please select the ‘Pay what I Can’ ticket option. Then simply fill in what you can afford.
