The Jim Rattigan Quintet
with
Jim Rattigan (french horn / arranger / composer)
Mike Chillingworth (alto sax)
Gareth Fowler (guitar)
Calum Gourlay (bass)
David Ingamells (drums)
A graduate of Trinity College of Music and the Royal Academy, French horn player Jim Rattigan started out working with classical orchestras and small ensembles, but wanted to explore music at a deeper level.
Since then he’s become a virtuoso in jazz on the French horn and whose unique talents have seen him play with the likes of Michael Brecker, Charlie Haden, the McCoy Tyner Big Band and Kenny Wheeler. He can also be heard playing on Hollywood film soundtracks.
Highly-regarded by his peers, Jim always works with the best in the business and this evening’s quintet brings together some of the finest jazz musicians in the UK to perform a program of his original compositions.
"In Rattigan's hand, the horn proves versatile both in tonal palette and dynamics. Seamlessly adapting to his different collaborators and finding creative sparks with all, he shows melodic flair and improvisational daring." All About Jazz
