PeopleofLeeds Farewell Party

After 12 years of curating the best and the brightest of Leeds, we're sorry to say that the PoL twitter account will be closing its doors in January 2024 on its anniversary.

Unfortunately the eradication of any sort of support or moderation on Twitter (it's not X, never will be) has led to a proliferation of bots, hate speech and malicious content, and the lack of a safety team on their staff means there isn't any way to mitigate the dangers. As a volunteer run account, there's no way we can keep on top of it all, and because we can't guarantee that curators will have a pleasant experience in what has always been the loveliest corner of the internet, it's time to say goodbye.

We'd like to celebrate all the wonderful times we've had during the account's run, so we'll be throwing a farewell party to share stories, raise a glass to all the curators we've loved, and finally put faces to the names we've become familiar with. As we've always invited you to share your lives with us, we're looking forward to sharing this special occasion with you.
