This was a major home upgrade project started in April 2022, with the heat pump working since April 2023. The work complements previously installed solar PV panels and triple glazing. All ground floor suspended timber floors have been replaced with insulated solid floors including underfloor heating. External walls have been internally insulated (in addition to the cavity wall insulation installed previously), and an air source heat pump and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR) system installed. A small extension has created downstairs bathroom and a plant area to house the ventilation and heating components, followed by house rewire and a full kitchen refit.
The home owners have worked with a local contractor and retrofit advisor to complete the work. They will share photos of the process challenges around planning the programme of works, clearing the house and moving out whilst work was underway. They'll also talk about combining retrofit with home improvement generally, plus costs and benefits.
Booking is essential - you will be asked to choose a tour slot and receive the full home address later. Each tour will last between 30-60 minutes. If you're planning to visit other homes on the same day, please consider how you will travel between them before booking. For more info please contact Ivana via ivana@yorkcommunityenergy.org.uk.
Free entry, booking is required via this page or by leaving a message on 01904 922781.
Accessibility: Visitors are welcome to make use of the toilet if needed. The ground floor of the house has wheelchair access via back door - please get in touch for more details.
