This is the first of three meetings Yes Dunbar is organising with candidates standing locally (or expecting to stand) in the election for the new Scottish Parliament on 7 May 2026, each seeking to be elected or re-elected as MSPs. We understand that all three speakers in this series support the case for an independent Scotland. Please note that it is possible that more than one of these candidates could be elected, so they are not in direct competion: following the election, this area will be served by one constituency MSP and seven regional MSPs.

On 19 February we are delighted to welcome Paul McLennan (SNP) - who will speak on: What an independent Scotland would mean for East Lothian

In 2021 Paul McLennan was elected to the Scottish Parliament on behalf of the SNP as Constituency MSP for East Lothian and he was appointed Minister for Housing in the Scottish Government from 2023-24.  He has been selected by the SNP to stand again in the Holyrood election in May 2026, this time for the new constituency of East Lothian Coast and Lammermuirs.
