Calum Stewart Trio with Sophie Stephenson & Smooinaght Mie - Yn Chruinnaght Celtic Gathering

Headlining the final night of the festival is Calum Stewart; an award winning Uilleann Piper, flautist and composer.

Calum’s distinct musical voice – expressed through the wild, shimmering sound of the Irish Uilleann Pipes, and the rich, powerful tones of the Wooden Flute, has been developed through collaborations within the Scottish and Irish traditions.

In his trio, he is accompanied by the earthy resonance of the double bass and the vibrant rhythm of the cittern, and they will be joined at Yn Chruinnaght Celtic Gathering by Scottish step dancer Sophie Stephenson.

Also performing this evening are Manx super-group, Smooinaght Mie, ahead of their trip to Festival Interceltique de Lorient. Smooinaght Mie (Good Idea!) are a dynamic and innovative folk music group that combine the rich heritage of traditional Manx music with a contemporary twist!
