With Iona Lawrence from The Decelerator.

The Decelerator’s journey began with a provocative question: "What if organisational endings weren’t feared or avoided, but embraced as opportunities for growth, learning, and renewal?"

As funders, we are often focused on growth, scale, and sustainability — but what if strategic endings were just as important to impact? What if funding a closure, a merger, or a conscious transition could be a meaningful and effective use of resources?

Join us for this 90 minute online webinar where it will provide an opportunity to:

  • Explore - Dive deep into the role of endings throughout the organisational life cycle.
  • Make sense - Discuss and make sense of the state of civil society endings right now.
  • Put into practice - Think about how we might apply learning from The Decelerator in our current work.
  • Understand - Learn how The Decelerator can support organisations / grantees.

This session will help funding organisations:

  • Identify when an organisation might be approaching a natural or strategic ending
  • Understand what good endings look like — and what they require
  • Learn how to support organisations through endings with dignity, purpose, and legacy in mind
  • Challenge assumptions around failure, winding down, and sunsetting
  • Discover funding approaches that support honesty, reflection, and transformation

Whether you’ve already encountered these conversations or are just beginning to think about them, this session will offer space to reflect, learn from peers, and consider how funding strategies might shift to better support the full life cycle of social change work.

To help get the most out of the session, here are a couple of questions to reflect on in advance:

  • What role do endings play in my trust / foundation's work, and how are they currently handled?
  • Are there any patterns or challenges we've noticed when it comes to navigating endings, either within our work or across the sector?

If you want to think differently about endings and how your funding can support more honest, impactful, and intentional change, sign up now and be part of the conversation.

This event is free for Yorkshire Funders members (£15 for non-members). Reserve your place today!
