Railweek: YRP West Midlands - Very Light Rail Tech Talk

Join us for an in‑depth technical exploration of the Coventry Very Light Rail (VLR) programme, a pioneering initiative shaping the future of sustainable mass transit in the UK. This session will provide a comprehensive review of the innovative VLR vision and its potential to transform urban mobility across the country.

The talk will feature an in-depth look into the R&D behind developing a unique, patented track slab and vehicle from concept through to manufacture and finally installation and testing in the street scene.

The first session will be led by the resident expert on Very Light Rail track and the creator of the concept.

The talk will then review the conception and development of the one-of-a-kind CVLR vehicle, manufactured locally to demonstrate and showcase the future that VLR systems could deliver. This second session will focus on the design parameters and aspirations of the system from a vehicle design engineer.

This feature will appeal to planners, project managers, track and rolling stock engineers from all parts of the rail industry.
