Disrupting the Railway Signalling Market

Join YRP East Midlands for an evening with Universal Signalling, a Derby-based SME taking a different approach to railway signalling through lower-cost, faster-to-deploy products designed to help bring rail’s benefits to more communities sooner. Hosted at Universal Signalling’s offices at the RTC in Derby, the session will give attendees the opportunity to hear directly from the team behind the technology and see their products first hand.

The evening will cover Universal Signalling’s approach to delivering signalling functions within days rather than decades, alongside a detailed look at their U-Cross (User Worked Crossing Protection) product. Following successful trials, U-Cross will shortly be introduced on the Heart of Wales line by Network Rail. The session will also reflect on the realities of innovation in rail, exploring lessons learnt from developing a disruptive SME within a complex and highly regulated industry. This promises to be an interesting and practical session for anyone working in  signalling, systems, operations or are simply interested in how new ideas are introduced into rail.
