We’re excited to present our #3 session of the London & Southeast Young Leaders Development Series, a new monthly Lunch & Learn initiative designed to support personal growth and leadership development across the YRP community.

Topic: Leadership vs. Management

Format: Online (Presentation + Open Discussion)

Duration: 60 minutes

Frequency: 11th September, Friday, 13:00 to 14:00 (Monthly series for 6 months) [NEW DATE: 18th September, Friday, 13:30 to 14:30.]

👨‍🏫 Led by: Tom Lawrence

We are pleased to introduce Tom Lawrence, who will be leading the series.

Tom is a leadership and personal development practitioner with a strong track record in creating accessible, practical learning content:

  • Founder of highlyeffectiveleader.com (developed over the past 5 years)
  • Author of 6 self-published books in the Highly Effective Leader Series
  • A newly published book focused on inspiring young people to develop leadership skills
  • More than 20 years of experience in railway industry

Tom is passionate about supporting young professionals, particularly within industries like rail, where he has years of experience working with stakeholders across the railway world.

🌱 About the Session

In this third session, we will explore: 

- The behaviours of a manager and the behaviours of a leader
- When to be a manager and when to be a leader
- Listening to understand your team
- Influencing different thinking within your team
- Inspiring your team to provide solutions to their own problems.

The session will include a short presentation followed by an open discussion, giving everyone the opportunity to share perspectives and experiences.
