Course Overview

This interactive online workshop provides training in the internal verification process for the Youth Achievement Awards (YAA).
It is designed to ensure consistent, high-quality assessment standards across organisations delivering YAA.

Participants will learn what internal verification involves, how to review assessor decisions, how to maintain consistent standards and what is required to meet Youth Scotland’s quality assurance expectations.

This training is essential for anyone who will carry out internal verification within their organisation.

Entry Requirements

To attend this course, you must have previously completed:
Level 1 – Introductory Training to Hi5 & DYA
and
Level 2 – Introductory Training to the Youth Achievement Awards (YAA).

Overall Aims

By the end of this training, participants will:

• Understand the purpose and role of internal verification
• Know how to effectively review and sample Youth Achievement Award portfolios
• Understand how to verify assessor decisions and ensure consistent judgement
• Know what evidence and documentation is required for quality assurance
• Be confident in using Youth Scotland guidance and verification tools

• Staff responsible for internal verification of YAA
• Youth workers, teachers and CLD practitioners delivering YAA
• Managers or team leads overseeing award assessment
• Anyone supporting quality assurance within their organisation

This course is required for anyone acting as an internal verifier for the Youth Achievement Awards.

This workshop is delivered online via Zoom.
A joining link will be emailed after booking. Only registered participants will be admitted.
Handouts will be emailed 72–24 hours before the session.
