Rope Tales is honored to present an online class by Kitaro Kasukabe and Erisa Satoh.
Online ZOOM meeting.
We will host an online talk titled “The Present and Future of Kinbaku Photography Culture in Japan,” featuring Kitaro Kasukabe, editor of ROCA, one of the few kinbaku magazines still published in Japan and a kinbaku photographer himself, together with Erisa Satoh, renowned for her long career as the official photographer of Akira Naka.
Each issue of ROCA showcases the work of leading photographers, writers, and rope artists from the Japanese kinbaku scene. The latest issue (Vol. 5), released in June this year, was dedicated to a special feature on Erisa Satoh, including newly commissioned works, a retrospective of her past projects, and interviews with key figures.
Through the works and perspectives of Kitaro Kasukabe and Erisa Satoh, this event will explore the current trends and state of contemporary kinbaku photography culture in Japan, as well as reflect on its future, both within Japan and globally.
