This 3-day workshop is dedicated to exploring body handling and aesthetics within Japanese rope bondage.
Through both a practical and theoretical approach, we will work on the relationship between rope structure, body mechanics, and aesthetic composition, in order to understand how these elements interact during a session.
The aim is not only to learn new forms, but to refine the ability to read the body, guide it through space, and construct ties that are both technically coherent and visually expressive.
Throughout the workshop we will examine several fundamental elements of traditional semenawa, using them as a starting point to develop sensitivity, precision, and awareness in rope work.

The Workshop

Semenawa

We will approach traditional semenawa from both a technical and aesthetic perspective.
We will study how tension is constructed, how rope interacts with the tied body, and explore key references from Japanese aesthetic principles applied to rope.

Takatekote

We will analyze the takatekote without stem, exploring in detail the dynamics of the shoulder girdle and how the structure of the tie interacts with the body.
The goal is to develop a clearer understanding of the forces involved and a deeper awareness when building the tie.

Patterns and Structure

Several iconic patterns will be used to illustrate fundamental principles of composition and aesthetics in rope.
The workshop will include both floorwork and suspensions, with particular attention given to body management during transitions and maintaining continuity of movement.

Variations

Depending on the level of the participants, some ties will be transformed and reinterpreted.
These variations are designed as learning tools to improve rope management, structural understanding, and the ability to adapt forms to different bodies.

Practical Information

The class begins at 10:00 and ends at 17:00, both Saturday and Sunday.
There will be a one-hour lunch break each day.

Participants are invited to arrive early to prepare.
The studio is located at Via Giuseppe Maria Giulietti 8, Milan, and will be available from 9:30 to 17:30 so everyone has time to change comfortably.

Prerequisites

For Riggers / Tops

  • Solid takatekote without stem

  • Confident and fluid management of suspension lines

  • Comfortable working in suspension

For Models / Bottoms

  • Comfortable being tied in gote

  • Understanding the difference between comfortable and sustainable, and willingness to explore both

  • Ability to independently monitor nerve compression and circulation restriction

Advanced class - Bon*dage for ***

A special class dedicated to bondage for sex will take place on Friday evening, designed for participants with an advanced level of experience.
The class will explore how to integrate bondage into an erotic dynamic in a conscious and intentional way, working on body handling, communication between partners, and the use of rope as a tool to intensify physical connection
During the session, principles, configurations, and practical considerations will be presented to help maintain stability, safety, and fluidity while keeping the interaction at the center of the experience.

The class will take place from 19:00 to 22:30.

Saturday Night Rope Jam

On Saturday evening the studio will host a rope jam session, an open space for practice, exploration, and meeting other people in the rope community. Participants are welcome to tie, continue working on material from the workshop, or simply enjoy the atmosphere of shared practice.

Everyone is expected to work within their own level of experience, maintaining attention to safety, consent, and respect for others in the space.

The rope jam will take place from 20:00 to 00:00.
The jam is included for participants who purchase the bundle ticket.
