META ROOTS

APEX and ZEAL invite you to a night of cultural exchange where tradition meets technology, reimagining heritage as a living source within our digital present.Curated by Bailey Davis & Andrea Evgenieva, with advisory curation by Sally Yaiza Hernadéz Escobar, METAROOTS was formed through a deep curiosity to explore how reconnecting with one’s cultural values influence authentic creative expression in a tech-mediated world that increasingly questions “what is real”.

Joined by artists/researchers Günseli Yalcinskaya, Olivia Ema, and Jiayi Chen, we explore how our search for meaning & identity lead us to greater collective understanding in a world where emerging technologies cause a pervading sense of unreality.

During a brief reflection period, the audience is encouraged to bring a small artifact culturally significant to them, and hang it on the METAROOTS System- an interactive installation suspended above the space created by Andrea Evgenieva and Moss Seymour. Complementary tea will be served.

The second half of the evening will explore the night’s themes through musical and poetry performances. Poets Atlas Azure, Phoenix Yemi, and Jenny Scoons will deliver their artistic perspective on cultural identity through prose, followed by an ethereal harp performance by musician Xiaoqiao.
