Turning Point: Managing identity, confidence and imposter syndrome during menopause

Tue 6 Oct 2026 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Multi Faith Chaplaincy University of Aberdeen, AB24 3EE

Is this your reality: One minute you are killing it at work. The next, brain fog hits you so hard you can’t even decide what coffee to order?

When menopause strikes, everything can shift at once. Sleep deprivation fuels anxiety, self-doubt creeps in and imposter syndrome takes over overleaving you questioning your identity, your confidence and your ability to perform at work. This can also affect wellbeing impacting on anxiety and often a sense of loss can be felt.

We are offering a series of 3 workshops aimed at helping you to get your professional mojo back and quieten the self-doubt, conquer the anxiety and rebuild the unstoppable workplace confidence and effectiveness you know you possess. Our workshops will help you navigate the perfect storm of midlife roles:

Loss, change and identity: Without a grounded sense of self, it is easy to become completely swallowed up by external expectations and caretaking duties. Actively rebuilding your identity shifts your focus from what is being "lost" to what is being gained.

Sleep and anxiety: Sleep disturbances and anxiety act as a destructive vicious cycle during menopause, heavily impacting on cognitive performance, emotional resilience and overall impact in the workplace.

Imposter syndrome and confidence: Symptoms like memory lapses, processing dips and anxiety can cause women to doubt their competence. This creates a direct breeding ground for imposter syndrome and believing you are not good enough.

Our workshops will be delivered by:

Linda Engles, Occupational Psychologist and menopause at work specialist

Yvonne Millman, Psychologist and Psychotherapist.

The event is hosted in the Multi Faith Chaplaincy at the beautiful King's College at the University of Aberdeen. Parking is free to access in the evening. We will provide refreshments and light snacks.
