Salvador Sobral Announces New Album of Brazilian Songs:
"A Flor do Recomeço"

Acclaimed Portuguese singer and Salvador Sobral presents his first-ever album featuring
exclusively Brazilian composers. Titled "A Flor do Recomeço" (The Flower of Restarting), the
album was recorded in São Paulo and produced by Brazilians Marcus Preto and Tó
Brandileone , with a release scheduled for the second half of the year.

The record features a stellar lineup of previously unreleased songs written specifically for
Sobral by renowned artists such as Adriana Calcanhotto, Arnaldo Antunes, Chico César, Céu,
Marcelo Camelo, Mallu Magalhães, Marcos Valle, and Tim Bernardes. The title is drawn from a
poem by writer Eveline Sin, set to music by Chico César.

For Sobral, this project is a deeply personal journey back to his musical foundations:
"I am absolutely convinced that music was born in Brazil. I grew up listening to Maria Bethânia
in my mother’s car and Chico César in my father’s. This album stems from the need to go to the
supreme origin to deepen and uncover the timeless sounds of this side of the Atlantic."
Backed by a premier band of Brazilian musicians — Tiago Costa (piano), Fábio Sá (double bass),
Conrado Goys (guitar), Sergio Machado (drums), and Felipe Roseno (percussion) — Sobral
emphasizes that the goal was authenticity over imitation:
"The idea was not to make a 'Brazilian record,' but rather a record of Brazilian composers
played by Brazilian musicians and sung by a Portuguese artist. Otherwise, we might fall into the
trap of sounding like a caricature of Brazilian music with a strange accent."

Following an intensive period of rehearsals and recording in Brazil, Sobral describes the final
work as a sound that is "coherent in its entirety, doing justice to each unique composition".
