Recycling Center Tour

Ever wondered what happens to your recycling after it leaves the curb? Here’s your chance to find out and get an up close and personal look at how recycling sorting works at Recycle Ann Arbor’s Zero Waste MRF! Please note: the MRF is a functioning industrial facility. To ensure the safety of all, the facility will not be operational during the Trash Talk Tour.
Guidelines:
Attendees must wear:
- Sturdy, closed toe shoes or boots to cover all parts of feet (no sandals, flip flops, crocs, etc.)
- long pants to ankle (No Shorts/Capris, Dresses)
Attendees must be registered and checked in on-site at their assigned time or attendees will not be able to go on the tour.
Everyone in the family needs their own ticket.
No children under 12, all children 12-17 years old need to be accompanied by an adult.
RAA will provide basic personal protective equipment (PPE) for your visit. This includes:
- Hi-visibility vest
- Hard hat
- Safety glasses
- If you have your own OSHA approved PPE, please feel free to bring it along
Onsite photography is generally prohibited. If you wish to take a photo, please ask your RAA tour guide for permission of what you would like to photograph and a determination can be made.
General Safety guidelines:
- An RAA representative will escort you around the site at all times while on the tour.
- Always stay in close proximity to one another when touring the site. A good rule of thumb is always remain in eye contact with all group members when touring the site.
Parking Information: Enter gate from Platt Rd and check in with volunteers, parking will be at the MRF facility parking lot (space is limited, please try to carpool) – parking aids will on-site be directing you where to go.
