Throwing on the Wheel, INTERMEDIATE, with Birgit Pohl - 5-week course for adults

Cost:

 £200 for five 2-hour sessions; £100 concessions

During the weekly 2-hour sessions:

• This course is for intermediate level students who would like to improve their throwing skills and work on specific shapes.
• Students should be comfortable centering 1kg of clay and be able to pull up walls evenly.
• You will also improve your skills in finishing and glazing your pots. 

Please contact us if you're unsure if this course is right for you. NB If you are a less experienced potter then you might consider the all levels course available on Monday afternoons

• You can keep up to six pots which will be fired for you at the end of this course. 
• If you wish to make more than six pieces you might consider also enrolling in the untutored sessions on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings 
• The cost of all materials and firings are included in your course fee.

Please note:

• This course is for adults, aged 18 and over. 
• Throwing on the wheel can be a messy business and aprons will not be provided. Please wear appropriate clothing.

About the teacher: Birgit Pohl

• Birgit makes wheel-thrown functional and decorative porcelain pots from her studio in Forest Hill. Her pieces are hand-decorated in her signature style, conveying a love for early to mid-20^th century art and design.
• She studied at Clay College, Stoke-on-Trent, where she discovered her love for porcelain. In 2023, Birgit became a Selected Member of the Craft Potters Association and her work has been exhibited in various locations including Celebrating Ceramics Oxford, Potfest Compton Verney, Art in Clay Farnham and Handmade Chelsea.
• Birgit is experienced in teaching wheel-throwing courses and specialised workshops for all levels. She particularly enjoys helping students develop their own language in ceramics.
