Event summary and key information

The Remember Nature 2025: Nature Remembered Gathering

On Tuesday 4 November 2025 artist Yu-Chen Wang invites you to join the Nature Remembered Gathering at Hulme Community Garden Centre, between 3-5pm. Free hot soup and warming refreshments will be served. The event is supported by Castlefield Gallery, Hulme Garden Community Centre and a host of wonderful collaborators and partners. Artist Yu-Chen Wang believes that knowledge is held within communities and hopes this event will “create space for people to share that knowledge and feel empowered to do so.” Find out more about artist Yu-Chen Wang more about artist Yu-Chen Wang by visiting www.yuchenwang.com

The gathering forms part of a national programme, Remember Nature 2025, that takes place on 4 November 2025, marking a decade since the celebrated artist Gustav Metzger put out a call to “Remember Nature” and “make a stand against the ongoing erasure of species”.

What to expect at the gathering

You will be invited to explore Hulme Community Garden Centre whilst experiencing and taking part in a programme of activities designed to inspire answers to the question of ‘what we can do to support nature?’ A range of cultural and community groups and their representatives, will join the gathering, as well as environmental scientists, campaigners, artists, and more. Activities will include 'ask a scientist', presentations, discussion and information swap sessions, performance, hands on creative climate activities, a pop-up photography exhibition from MMU BA Photography and a film screening at Venture Arts Studio 53. All brought to you by partners, collaborators, and invitees, including Venture Arts and Unity Radio / Manchester Hip-Hop Archive, through to Mums for Lungs, Grass Routes, Ethical Consumer, RSPB, Save Ryebank Fields/Ryebank Fields Community, Your Home Better, and many more. Free, warming hot refreshments will be served!

You don’t need to bring knowledge. Please just come along with an open mind and a desire to act and ‘stand up for nature’. The afternoon is all about sharing knowledge and skills through varied activities that enable anyone to get involved, and to identify small and big actions alike that they may want to take away and implement as part of their contribution to protecting our natural world.

Access

All the spaces at Hulme Community Garden Centre are wheelchair accessible other than the bandstand. Some paths are a little narrower or softer than others, but still accessible, and there are multiple routes to all areas. Hulme Community Garden Centre also has an accessible toilet.

Please note that it will go dark while we are Hulme Community Garden Centre; there is lighting but it is not super bright. Most of the outdoor lighting is from fairy lights so please bear this in mind.

We will be using covered outdoor spaces – we will do our best to make them warm and dry but please dress for the weather!

The Remember Nature 2025: Nature Remembered Walk will be suitable for some wheelchair users; There is wheelchair access to the Derek Jarman Pocket Park from Nicholas Street.

You can read a detailed wheelchair access guide by Sally Hirst here
There is also an easy read version available here
