During the hustle of the holidays, we invite you to enter more deeply into the Advent season by spending an afternoon surrounded by beautiful religious art.  Join us for a special tour led by William Newton who will guide us through reflection and commentary on selected works of art.

We hope this event will delight your senses and draw you more deeply into the Advent season and the meaning of Christ’s birth this Christmas.

This is a fundraiser for the Catholic Art Institute, all proceeds and donations benefit the organization and its mission to evangelize the culture though the Catholic arts.

William Newton is a critic, commentator, and public speaker with a variety of interests in the art world. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, the University of Notre Dame Law School, and Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London. He lives in Washington, D.C.
He has served as an art critic for the American edition of The Spectator magazine, as well as for the online magazine The Federalist, and his work has appeared in Aleteia, The Catholic Herald (UK), and Patheos, among other publications. As a public speaker, he has addressed academic, professional, and religious institutions around the U.S.,and appeared on numerous podcasts. He is currently finishing his first book, which
deals with artistic and cultural observations drawn from his travels in Spain.

This event is a fundraiser in support of the Catholic Art Institute
and its ongoing efforts to restore a culture of beauty, truth and goodness, empowering artists to use their gifts to glorify God and captivate souls through beauty, as well as restoring excellence to the Catholic arts.

Tickets are $28 and all proceeds support the mission of the Catholic Art Institute.

Where to Meet

The National Gallery of Art is located at  6th St. and Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20565

On Sunday Dec. 7, 2025, we will meet at 1:45 at the fountain in the West Building rotunda (upstairs on the main gallery floor) prior to the 2:00pm tour start time. You will be checked in and then we will proceed to the galleries for the tour. Additional instructions will be sent to those who enroll.

​After the tour the group will retire to the museum cafe for refreshments and social time. (refreshments are not included in the ticket price).

Please note, this is a popular event and tickets are likely to sell out, if they do. A wait list will be enabled and we'll contact you if tickets become available. 

No refunds after Dec 1st. If you need to cancel, please email contact@catholicartinstitute.org  and we will try to find alternatives to take your place from the wait list, if we can, we will offer a refund or you can donate your tickets.
