CSGN Gathering: Bringing Change to Life

Involved in addressing biodiversity loss, improving environmental wellbeing and equality or on a journey to Net Zero? Are you interested in learning more about taking tangible actions to tackle climate change? Our autumn event is for you!

Join us this September in Glasgow, for an inspiring, FREE networking event to celebrate what is already happening across the network and look ahead to what we can achieve as we continue to work together towards urgent climate and biodiversity targets.

With inspirational speakers, who are leaders in their field, practical, collaborative workshops and participatory activities, we will look forward with renewed vision.

Hosted by cycling legend Mark Beaumont, this event is your opportunity to share knowledge and foster new and existing connections that will benefit your work.

About Central Scotland Green Network (CSGN)

Covering 10,000 square kilometres and with a 40-year timeframe, the CSGN is one of the largest and most ambitious green infrastructure programmes in Europe. Driven forward by the Green Action Trust, the CSGN spans 19 local authority areas and covers 87% of Scotland’s most disadvantaged areas.

This diverse network joins up organisations and projects with the common objective of improving the social, physical, cultural, and environmental wellbeing of central Scotland by connecting people to greenspace where it is needed most.  It is a major driver in delivering tangible actions to achieve the Scottish Government’s ambitious climate and biodiversity targets.

Join us on 17th September to Bring Change to Life!

Workshops:

The afternoon session will include the opportunity to take part in two interactive workshops that will be a deep dive into topics helping us deliver the change we need. Please note that some of our workshops have now reached capacity, so you will be allocated to one of the remaining workshop spaces.

The four workshop topics are:

Landscape carbon tracking

The transition to net zero emissions requires estimates of the whole landscape carbon footprint. Armed with that information, we can have data-led discussions about land use decisions, changes to our organisations, and engagement with communities and businesses. Small World Consulting will share with us their landscape carbon emissions toolkit and show its application across the UK, and how it will be useful for your organisation.

Inclusivity and creativity in community engagement

This workshop will test best practice in different scenarios and provide new ideas and examples to bring out the best in your community engagement. It will take real-life examples from the Central Scotland Green Networ
k.

Delivering for nature and climate at landscape-scale

What does it mean to work at landscape-scale? It's not just big space but big thinking too. Learning from Green Action Trust’s experience as a partner in the Leven Programme, this workshop will demonstrate the wider benefits of working at this scale. We will explore how to build landscape partnerships, how to overcome barriers and the added value that collaboration and ambition at scale can bring.

Nature Finance and the CSGN

The climate and nature emergencies are very high on the political agenda and require significant investments. How can we create new opportunities for partnerships that secure private finance into landscapes at scale, across the central belt? What are the barriers to funding and how can we unlock them for nature and people?

Location:

The event will take place at The Studio, Glasgow, and we expect an audience of 160 people from across Scotland’s environmental sector. The Studio is located opposite Central Station and is accessible on foot, via bike or public transport and we encourage all delegates to use sustainable modes of transport where possible.

Address: The Studio Glasgow, 67 Hope St, Glasgow G2 6AE, https://thestudio.co.uk/

Sustainability

As such, the CSGN Gathering is being produced to the highest quality possible with a sustainability-first approach. Measures we have taken to reduce our carbon footprint include booking a Greengage ECOsmart Gold venue and a B-Corp registered ticket platform. Please feel free ask us for more details on our sustainability approach.
