Progress toward breaking the world record

👽 What is happening?

event_description_image_290555_1773064726_8d27a.jpg?_a=BAAE6HDQ

The current world record for the most people wearing inflatable costumes is 306!

guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/768681-most-people-wearing-inflatable-costumes

We are planning to break this and we are also attempting to SET a new record for the largest gathering of people skiing in inflatable costumes

During Snowbombing 2026 in Mayrhofen, Austria, we’re aiming to make history by launching a full-scale alien invasion on the slopes!

Imagine hundreds of skiers and snowboarders in inflatable alien abduction costumes descending the mountain together. Equal parts ridiculous, iconic, and absolutely unforgettable!

This will be an official World Record attempt, with structured check-in and check-out, counting, and evidence collection on the day, such as video and drone footage, so your participation genuinely counts toward making history.

Whether you’re skiing, snowboarding, or just there for the madness, this is your chance to be part of something totally unique during one of the world’s most legendary snow festivals.

Warning: No aliens will be harmed during this World Record Attempt!

👽 Why are we doing this?

We’re doing this in memory of our friend, Stewart Kinsey, who brought so many of us together through Snowbombing and the community that grew from it. He had a way of connecting people and making everyone feel included.

This record attempt is joyful, ridiculous and community-driven, exactly the kind of thing he would have loved.

We’re also raising money for Big Moose, a mental health charity focused on early intervention and accessible therapy, so more people can get support when they need it.

If you’d like to make a separate donation, you can do so here: https://www.justgiving.com/page/kinsey

By taking part, you’re not just helping break a world record, you’re helping honour Stewart and supporting others.

👽 When is it?

Tuesday 7th April at 12:00 (Don't be late or you will not be able to take part!)

Please leave with plenty of time in case there are lift queues as we need to get everyone checked in, ensuring they are wearing their costumes and they are inflated. If you are not there on time you will not be able to be counted and take part, so make sure you set your alarms!

👽 Where is it?

Meeting point: outside "Rompa's Reggae Shack" which is located at Kasermandl am Penken, see map locations below.

👽 What is the itinerary?

12:00 - Check-in and costume collection

12:45 - Check-in closes (you will not be allowed to participate after this time!)

13:30 - First record attempt (most people in inflatable costumes in one loction)

14:00 - Second record attempt (most people in inflatable costume on a ski slope)

15:00 - Event end (meet at Pilzbar for a drink and to report UFO sightings on Penken mountain)

👽 How do I get there?

From the top of the Penkenbahn, take the Kombibahn Gondola/Chairlift and once off the lift walk through the gap next to Lärchwaldhütte then head over towards Kasermandl am Penken.

👽 What do I need to take part?

  • An inflatable alien abduction costume, this is included in the cost of your ticket and will be given to you at the event. If you are not in line by 12:45 to collect your costume then it will be forfeited and redistributed to ensure we meet our World Record attempt numbers, so don't be late!
  • A valid lift pass.
  • Your own ski or snowboard equipment.
  • Ability to confidently stop and turn.
  • Warm layers under your costume (depending on the weather).

For safety reasons, you must be able to control your speed and stop safely while wearing the costume.

👽 How much does it cost to take part?

Early bird price: admission ticket including a costume: £30 - SOLD OUT

Normal price: admission ticket including a costume: £35

On the day price: admission ticket including a costume: £50

The ticket price includes booking fees and an inflatable costume you get to keep.

Ticket prices will increase as time goes on as stated above, so secure yours early for the best price.

👽 Why is there a ticket price?

Tickets help cover the costs of organising the event, including:

  • Bulk ordering inflatable costumes
  • Event organisation and logistics
  • Registration and counting for the record attempt
  • Filming and evidence collection

This is a not-for-profit community event, any funds raised go towards making the event possible and to raise a donation to Big Moose, a mental health charity focused on early intervention and accessible therapy.

👽 Can I bring my own costume?

No, as we must adhere to strict rules for the world record attempt, only the costume that you have purchased with your ticket will be accepted.

👽 When will I receive my costume?

You will be given your costume at the event after you have checked in with your ticket QR code.

If all tickets have not been sold then a limited number of tickets/costumes will be available for purchase on the day, at Rompa’s Reggae Shack for an increased fee as shown above.

Collect your costume by 12:45. If you are not in line by this time, your costume will be forfeited and redistributed to ensure we meet our World Record attempt numbers.

👽 Do I need to bring batteries for my costume?

No, unlike your favourite childhood toys growing up, batteries are included in the ticket price and we will be supplying them with the costume.

👽 What ski run will we go down in our costumes?

Red 27 and finish at Pilzbar.

Red 27 is an easy wide red run, that is mainly blue for the majority of it, so even if you are fairly new to skiing or snowboarding you should still be able to take part.

Final route may be adjusted depending on weather and piste conditions to ensure safety and record compliance.

👽 Are there limited places?

Yes, there are only 400 tickets available, so if you don't want to be watching from the sidelines then secure your place early!

👽 I'm scared of aliens, can I still take part?

Rest assured we won’t be using real aliens for the abduction.

If any real aliens do attend, they’ll be welcome to join the event for 50 Blemflarcks.

👽 Safety & Responsibility

Participation is at your own risk. This is a fun, community event but takes place on an active ski slope.

You must:

  • Ride within your ability
  • Follow marshal instructions
  • Respect other slope users
  • Wear appropriate protective equipment

Anyone behaving dangerously may be removed from the attempt.

👽 What happens if weather is bad?

The event will go ahead in most weather conditions.

If extreme weather or safety concerns prevent the attempt, updates will be communicated via email and social media.

👽 Who is organising this event?

This event is being organised by a group of friends from the Hugs & Cuddles community, who attend Snowbombing every year and wanted to create something fun, memorable and slightly ridiculous for the 2026 festival.

While this is a community-organised event, we are working with the support of Mountopolis, the company that operates the ski lifts and mountain infrastructure in Mayrhofen.

Mountopolis have recognised the event and have published it on their website here:

www.mayrhofen.at/en/products/the-mayrhofen-alien-abduction

Their support helps ensure the event can take place safely on the mountain.

👽 Refund Policy

This includes (but is not limited to):
