Ilkley was home to a Roman fort for more than 300 years. John Cockshott, former trustee of Ilkley Manor House, explores why the site was chosen, how the fort developed and the continuing debate over its correct Roman name. The talk includes a 30-minute walk exploring the site.

Arrive at Ilkley Manor House at 10:15am for a hot drink and biscuit. The talk begins at 10:30am, lasts roughly an hour and includes time for questions at the end.
