Narración Flamenca, A Flamenco Performance Featuring Dance, Song & Guitar with Lindsey Bourassa (dance), Marilia Quevedo (dance), Bárbara Martínez (cante/song), & Cristian Puig (guitar).
An evening of flamenco dance, song, and music with Maine-based & Seville-trained flamenco dancer Lindsey Bourassa accompanied by three of the most sought-after flamenco artists in the US: singer Bárbara Martínez, guitarist Cristian Puig, and dancer Marilia Quevedo. Having performed together regularly over the years, these four artists will perform traditional styles of flamenco and highlight flamenco’s expressive essence as a powerful, passionate, and captivating language.
ARTIST BIOS
Lindsey Bourassa
Based in Portland, Maine, Lindsey Bourassa is a flamenco dancer, choreographer, and teacher with a Master of Flamencology Degree from Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Barcelona, Spain) and a Certificate of Professionalization in Flamenco Arts from El Centro de Arte y Flamenco de Sevilla (Seville, Spain). She has performed and taught in both Spain and the United States and currently teaches Flamenco as part of the Bates College Dance Department in Lewiston, Maine.
Lindsey performs traditional flamenco with national and international flamenco artists, as well as her own original contemporary-flamenco works that illustrate multimedia, multi-genre storytelling, often woven together with her own creative prose.
Bárbara Martínez
For more than 20 years, Bárbara Martínez has worked as a dancer and singer with many flamenco dance companies in the U.S., also dancing in Carmen and La Traviata at the Metropolitan Opera, where she sang as a child. Bárbara has appeared in the documentary “Sobre Las Olas – A Story of Flamenco in the U.S.” by Carolina Loyola-Garcia and the photography exhibit “100 Years of Flamenco in New York” by NY Performing Arts Library and Carlota Santana Flamenco Vivo.
Bárbara performs regularly in NYC with Carlota Santana Flamenco Vivo, Danza España, Xianis Barrera Flamenco, A Palo Seco Flamenco, Alegrías at La Nacional, Sol y Sombra Flamenco, and beyond New York with Pasión y Arte Flamenco, Lindsey Bourassa Flamenco, EntreFlamenco, Juanito Pascual, Flamenco Sepharad, New Andalucía and others.
Cristian Puig
Cristian Puig was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Son of Gloria Monreal, Flamenco singer and Pablo Puig, Flamenco guitarist. When he was 19 years old, Cristian began his studies in classical guitar at the conservatory of Manuel de Falla as well as flamenco guitar with his father. Soon he took classes in flamenco guitar with Quique de Cordoba and furthered his studies in jazz, bosa nova, and contemporary music with various teachers. He has been self-taught ever since, using his musical influences and inspirations as his guide.
Marilia Quevedo
Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Marilia began her studies in classical dance at the age of 9. She began her career as a performing artist and dance teacher of classical dance in Buenos Aires, while simultaneously studying other disciplines. At the age of 27, she began her studies of flamenco, introducing herself to the Flamenco culture as a whole, with great masters of flamenco such as Juan El Camas and Concha Vargas. She currently resides between Florida and New York.

COVID-19 POLICY
All patrons and staff attending events will need to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (or negative test from within 48 hours) along with a matching photo ID. Children under 12 are exempt.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Mayo Street Arts has a no refund policy for all reservations. In the event that MSA is forced to cancel an event due to weather, illness, etc., refunds will be offered via the Ticket Tailor platform.
