NORTH SEA WATER - “WITTE WIEVEN” (Wise Pale Ladies) & Matters of Fate with Imelda Almqvist

The Witte Wieven, (literally pale or white ladies), are otherworld beings, generally encountered at night, dusk or dawn, in the Eastern and Northern parts of the Netherlands (the provinces of Drenthe, Overijssel and Gelderland, bordering Germany).

They are generally perceived as the spirits of wise women from ancient (possibly Neolithic) times. Some authors, including myself, connect them to the Schikgodinnen (deities of Fate), like the Norns of Norse cosmology. Certain references in historical sources also connect them to Frau Holle (to whom we will dedicate an entire webinar!) The reference to “pale or white ladies” does not refer to skin colour. Etymologically speaking the terms derived from an old Germanic word for wise (cognate with witty in modern English).

In this webinar we will meet the Witte Wieven and explore how we can develop a relationship with them in their capacity as wise ladies who know the matters of fate and can assist us with divination work, oracular or prophetic work.

Our session will end with a ceremony where every participant receives personal guidance from a Wit Wief in response to a personal question (so please arrive well-prepared)! Please keep your question to one line only.
