GRAMMY® Award-winning musician/producer and world-renowned drummer Quentin E. Baxter presents a two-concert series on Kiawah Island, SC. The series' first concert will feature The Angelique Francis Band led by vocalist/bassist Angelique Francis.

Joining Francis for the performance will be saxophonist Kharincia Francis, trombonist Kira Francis, drummer Kiran Francis, and guitarist Dave Williamson.

JUNO Award-winning artist, Angelique Francis and her band The Angelique Francis Band, are versatile and exceptionally gifted musicians. These multi-talented, multi-instrumentalists, multi-genre singer songwriters/composers have wowed audiences across the globe with their electrifying performances, instrumental abilities and powerful textured vocals. Known for their eclectic mix of various musical genres (including Blues, Folk, Soul, Jazz, Roots, Rock, Gospel and Americana), they have played and shared the stage with renowned musicians such as Buddy Guy, Gary Clark, Jr, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Joe Bonamassa, Eric Gales, Keb’ Mo’, Tom Cochran, Burton Cummings, and many more. The diversity, passion, and love of music can be heard in all of their original compositions.

They were named the 2024 Performers of the Year by Folk Canada, and were the recipients of the 2023 JUNO for Blues album of the year, 2 Canadian Blues Music Awards (6 total nominations), a SOCAN Award, A Capital Music Award, 2 Canadian folk music award

nominations (including a 2025 Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for Song of the Year), and so on. The members, sisters Angelique Francis, Kharincia Francis, Kira Francis, Kayla Francis, and father Kiran Francis have been recognized across multiple genre fields. They were a feature act at the Keeping the Blues Alive at Sea festival (Miami to Jamaica), Grolsch Blues Festival (Germany), Sighisoara Blues Festival (Romania), Stagecoach series (California), Massey Hall, Montreal Jazz Festival, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Mariposa Folk Festival, Calgary Folk Festival, Canmore Folk Festival, Ottawa Blues Festival, Ottawa Jazz Festival, London Music Festival, Mont-Tremblant Blues Festival, Trios-Rivieres Blues Festival, Ottawa Folk Festival, and the list goes on.

Born and raised in Ottawa, Canada, Angelique is a naturally gifted musician, who first garnered attention as a young prodigy. She first took to the stage at age 7, and by age 13 she was playing at music festivals across North America opening for a variety of acts such as Beth Hart, Trooper and Shameka Copeland; proficient in playing instruments such as the piano, acoustic and electric guitars, and upright and electric bass.

Angelique’s soulful Smoky vocals and instrumental techniques are reminiscent of a bygone era, but with a unique and modern sensibility. Within her vocal style, you can hear influences of legends like Big Mama Thornton, Koko Taylor, Aretha Franklin, Bessie Smith and many more. Her instrumental abilities call to mind Willie Dixon on the bass, Sister Rosetta Thorpe on guitar, Big Mama Thornton on the Harmonica and Aretha on the piano.

Over the past few years Angelique Francis has established herself as a bona fide star on the Canadian Blues, Soul, Jazz and Folk scene. Her previous album “Long River” won the 2023 JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year. The record weaves through a variety of styles from Blues to Soul and Classic R&B. The acclaimed album showcases Angelique’s signature powerhouse soulful vocals, commanding Bass/guitar hooks and infectious Blues infused melodies.

Her latest recording, “Not Defeated,” continues that momentum with an electrifying mix of blues, soul, and roots. The album features all-original songs of hope and courage — stories of resilience and unity crafted in Francis’s signature style. Collaborations with Grammy Award–winning Christone “Kingfish” Ingram and Grammy-nominated Eric Gales add even more depth to this powerful new collection.
