As a sub-group of the Voluntary Sector Leadership Board, the Charity Leader Group is a collaborative forum bringing together Chief Officers and Senior Leaders from across the charity sector in Wigan Borough.

Following the inaugural session, this second meeting builds on the foundations established by the group, continuing to strengthen relationships, shared understanding and collective purpose.

The Sector Leaders Groups aim to:

  • Promote networking and collaborative working within the voluntary and community sector
  • Provide a confidential and trusted peer support network for senior leaders
  • Improve communication across the sector and with wider partners in Wigan Borough
  • Strengthen partnership working with VCFSE sector organisations
  • Identify and take forward key strategic issues affecting the sector locally

This session will focus on continuing the development of the group’s shared statement of intention, alongside creating space for open discussion around current challenges, opportunities and priorities across the sector. There will also be time for networking and strengthening connections between leaders, supporting a more connected and collaborative sector.

Who is it for?

Chief Officers and Senior Leaders from Charities and CIOs. It is particularly suited to those responsible for organisational strategy, partnership development and service delivery. The group may also engage with key partners from public and private sectors where relevant, to support cross-sector collaboration and shared priorities.

What will you get from the event?

Attendees will continue to benefit from a trusted peer support network, offering a confidential space to share experiences, challenges and ideas. The session provides opportunities to:

  • Receive an update on the Dispersed Leadership Model, including developments following input from the working group
  • Build and deepen relationships with other sector leaders
  • Contribute to shaping the group’s shared direction and priorities
  • Discuss key strategic issues impacting the sector
  • Strengthen collaboration and collective influence across Wigan Borough

This session marks a shift from introduction to development, supporting the group to move towards a clearer collective voice and purpose.
