Heat Pump Café

Are you considering a heat pump? Have you already installed one and want to share experiences or tips? Come along from 6:30pm for light refreshments and to see a heat pump or for 7pm start of short presentations followed by table discussions:

• Introduction to heat pumps from an installer's perspective - local Heat Geek Arran Woodford

• Heat pump experiences - Angie Creswick of York Methodist Circuit will share reflections on having heat pumps installed both at the church and in her home

• Reducing heating costs with Time of Use Tariffs: choosing the right tariff and optimising heating patterns can significantly reduce energy costs as well as carbon emissions without compromising on comfort. Rob Lihou, of Ebb Energy and one of our York Open Eco Homes hosts, will share his tips for those who already have a heat pump. He is currently looking for more people to test his new app that automatically shifts heat pump activity to cheaper, cleaner periods.

Have your questions answered in a friendly atmosphere without any sales pressure.

Interested but can't make the date? You could still arrange to visit a heat pump with one of many local hosts registered with NESTA.

Free entry, including tea and cake

This event is part of a new project that supports community champions in raising awareness of energy-saving home upgrades. Are you keen to help spread the word about the benefits of measures such as insulation and draught-proofing, solar panels or heat pumps? Training and support will be provided. The project is a partnership between York Community Energy, University of York, Stockholm Environment Institute and Abundance Investment; supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and part-funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
