THE LEGAL LIMBO OF FILIPINOS WHO SERVED IN WWII
Over 1.2 million people claim they served.
Less than 20% were added to the official roster.
Women were explicitly excluded.
“The root of this whole issue is systemic racism against Filipinos: their cases have been treated differently.”
-Judy Donegan Esq., The Veterans Consortium
A LONG MARCH CLE presentations explore the U.S. legal treatment of Filipinos who served during WWII including:
•Inequities in the post-war guerrilla recognition program
•The decision that prevented Filipinos from gaining access to the U.S. Army Board for the Correction of Military Records and the treatment of Filipino service records since the war
•The benefit status of Filipino WWII veterans, including legal issues with the FVEC benefit’s denial rate of 56%
•Legal issues encountered during the pursuit of U.S. citizenship by Filipino veterans of WWII
