Better, more empowered hybrid work for you and your team

Working in a fast-changing world of volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity calls for effective, agile collaboration. Across the world, organisations need to deliver increased service quality, innovation and value for money. That means we must step our team to work up a gear, particularly when we aren’t physically in the room together.

This training is a practical opportunity for teams to become more autonomous and collaborative online. Do you recognise yourself or your team members in two or more of these points? Then the Better Hybrid Teams training is for you:

  • You know that your current team practices aren’t working, but you don't know how to adapt
  • You enjoy connecting with your team, but don’t need in-person meetings all the time
  • You are starting to adopt distributed team practices
  • You think online multi-disciplinary meetings can be done more effectively and efficiently
  • You notice disparities in levels of online engagement and input in your team

You might be:

  • A team leader looking to adapt your approach to managing and engaging your team online
  • A team engaging with customers or service users that needs to get more done with fewer resources
  • A cross-functional team under time and budget pressure, who needs to deliver results, fast
  • A specialist ‘back-office’ team seeking to deliver better results by using remote work tools and techniques more effectively

We believe that teams don’t need to accept the downsides of working from home. Instead, we see more remote and work-from-home teams adopting practices that empower people to take accountability for their work. These practices have made their work more engaging, motivating, and effective.

What you can expect at the end of the training:

  • Clarity. A clearer focus on what needs to be done, why, and how outcomes might best be achieved together
  • Robust solutions. Improved ideation and innovation, because team members can challenge each other safely
  • Higher productivity. Simply, more stuff gets done in less time because the team has a clearer understanding of what needs to get done.
  • Improved consistency. Stronger alliances and more individual accountability to ensure people do what they say they will do
  • Better relationships. Greater understanding of people's views and experiences develops higher levels of trust in teams
  • Resilience. People work at their best more of the time and have conversations that encourage learning, reflection and development.

You’ll be equipped with proven ‘best in class’ work-from-home practices that are tailored to distributed teams.

The course is held over two online sessions. The capacity of the course is 12 people who are also invited to join a Distributed Team Community of Practice to discuss any challenges and to celebrate successes after the training.

This course is recommended by The Institute for Online Collaboration and participants will receive a certificate of completion.

Module 1 focuses on ‘Setting me up for success’. This module focuses on how you operate within an online team. You’ll create a User Manual for Me, and apply this in creating your personal prototype in your work. We’ll also work through topics like practising radical incrementalism and setting up routines to protect your well-being.

Module 2 focuses on ‘Setting us up for success’. Here, we will discuss your team’s rules and rhythms and how you can set yourselves up to be more successful when working together and making decisions. The theory of self-organising teams underpins this session.
