Meet the Makers at Chicago Fair Trade's Pop-Up Shop and Museum
Tue Oct 24, 2023 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Chicago Fair Trade Pop-Up Shop and Museum, 2352 N Clark St, Chicago, IL, 60614
Description
This Chicago Fair Fashion Week, come to our Meet the Makers event: a chance to indulge in a little (ethical) retail therapy and chat with some of the brilliant business owners in Chicago Fair Trade’s local member network!
Bucking the harmful trends of the fast fashion industry, these mostly small-scale, women-owned businesses pay fair wages to the people who make their products and follow environmentally-friendly production principles. Come along from 5-7pm on Tuesday, October 24 to sip on a complimentary glass of fair trade wine (or beverage of your choice) and enjoy some delicious snacks as you learn the fascinating stories behind our totally unique products - and have a chance to shop, of course!
This event is part of Chicago Fair Fashion Week, a week-long celebration of Chicago's role in building a better, fairer fashion industry. Today, not only is the global clothing industry responsible for 8-10% of global carbon emissions, but 93% of brands don't pay their garment workers a living wage. As a designated Fair Trade City with the largest number of fair trade businesses in the US, Chicago is blazing a trail to provide all clothing-wearers with better options. Take part in Chicago Fair Fashion Week to learn more and create a more ethical and eco-friendly wardrobe!
