Not sure who to vote for? Feeling disillusioned with politics or that you're voice isn't heard? This event is for you.
There are a record seven candidates standing for the Macclesfield constituency in the general election on Thursday 4th July. The town and surrounding areas has had a Conservative MP for more than 100 years but is no longer considered a safe seat. There is a range of political views to choose from and in this election more than ever, every vote will matter.
At the hustings, each candidate will make their case for why they should be Macclesfield's next Member of Parliament and answers live questions from the audience – which they won’t have seen in advance.
The candidates are (in alphabetical order): Stephen Broadhurst (Reform UK), Neil Christian (Liberal Democrats), Dickon Fletcher (SDP), Amanda Iremonger (Green Party), Tim Roca (Labour Party), David Rutley (Conservative and Unionist Party) and Chris Wellavize (Independent).
Doors will open at 7.10pm for a 7.30pm start. The event is free but you will need to book a ticket. Seating is unreserved, some seats have a restricted view. The church is fully accessible (although if you use a wheelchair it would be helpful to know in advance). The event is currently oversubscribed so please cancel your ticket if you find you are unable to come.
The hustings is organised by a small team of volunteers in association with Entropy Events and with the support of HOPE, the organisation of churches in northeast Cheshire.
