Learning Objectives
Throughout this course, participants will:
expand their understanding of their own emotions, learn how to identify and interact with their emotions, and practice cultivating compassion for themselves and others.
identify and contextualize their power, privilege, and positionality in order to be in right relation with people of less power.
practice critical introspection on their complicity in upholding white supremacy culture within higher education institutions.
identify how academia can be an abusive system, especially to people that hold multiple marginalized identities.
practice enacting solidarity by creating counterspaces that nurture their awareness in order to be in right relation with all mentees.
apply their skills by demonstrating how they would create an empowering, vulnerable, and conscious space to support mentees of marginalized backgrounds.
