Music in the Park- The Grand Finale on Saturday, 3rd August, at The Old Hall, Spaldington, DN14 7NP
In aid of Cure Parkinson's - Sponsored by Howdens Group PLC
One of Howdenshire’s most prestigious music events – last held 15 years ago - is making a spectacular one-off return this summer to raise funds in aid of Cure Parkinson’s and we would love you to be there for a wonderful night of classical music inspired by Last Night of the Proms, picnics on the lawn, a grand auction & raffle, lighting of the beacon and a spectacular fireworks finale to the 1812 Overture.
Since the event was launched in 2002 by Annmarie and David Jackson of The Old Hall, after Annmarie was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, it has raised more than £100,000 towards research into this progressive neurological condition, which affects more than 153,000 people in the UK. Their daughter, Sara Jackson, has now taken up the mantle to organise one last major fundraiser this summer.
The evening will open with the Beverley and District Pipe Band and a Forward at 6.30pm from Mike Tindall MBE, with an official opening by the Rt Hon Sir David Davis. At 7pm opera singer Florence Taylor will lead a night of music and song that will include the Collectives Gospel Choir and the Hornbrokers Brass Band, culminating in a ‘Last Night of the Proms-inspired’ grand finale and firework display. The event is followed by an after-party from 11pm-midnight hosted by rock band The Rockets.
