Mictlan, a place for eternal rest in the Aztec civilization and mythology. Mictlan consists of nine distinct levels, the journey from the first level to the ninth is difficult and takes four years, but the dead are aided by the Xolotl (The god of fire and lightning).
Traditions connected with Day of the Dead celebration include honoring the deceased using Calaveras and Aztec marigold flowers known as Cempasuchil, building home altars called Ofrendas with the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these items as gifts for the deceased.
Nahualli Folklore Society is a registered non-profit organization established in Vancouver, B.C. Canada since 2010. Its purpose is to represent and share Mexican Culture through dance.
