Celebrate the opening of California's Lobster Season at the 4th Annual Lobsterfest!
The special edition marketplace will feature 9 local fishermen selling spiny lobster on the pier, with Chef Marcus Twilegar dishing up dockside meals throughout the event. The event begins at 8am and often meals and whole lobsters are sold out in just a matter of hours – be sure to come early to catch the action!

Anchoring the northern edge of Seaport Village, Tuna Harbor Dockside Market upholds San Diego’s maritime heritage and economy, connecting fishing communities to the public with each Saturday installment of its open-air seafood market. In championing sustainable and locally sourced food systems, Tuna Harbor Dockside Market along with the San Diego Fishermen's Working Group invites fellow San Diegans to celebrate the onset of California's Spiny Lobster, which runs from early October to mid-March each year.
A local delicacy, spiny lobsters differ from their cousins on the East Coast most obviously because of their lack of claws, but they are well-known for having sweeter meat. The tail meat is the big attraction and they're perfect for steaming or grilling.
Lobsterfest last year consisted of 1193 lbs of California Spiny Lobster being sold by 6 local fishing families. At the event, Chef Marcus Twilegar prepared and sold 280 meals for attendees. This year we will have 9 local lobstermen selling spiny lobster on the pier from 8-1 or until sold out. Delicious Lobster meals from Chef Marcus Twilegar will be available for purchase on the dock during the event. Twilegar is the culinary mastermind behind local favorites such as Palmy’s Pacific Beach, Hello Hibachi Island Grill, Adobo House, Parq, and Craft Catering.
