Join the Scottish AI Alliance and Director of B’AI Global Forum, Professor Yuko Itatsu, of the University of Tokyo, for this engaging event that marries the themes of social justice with the principles of trustworthy, ethical, and inclusive AI.
Hear from Professor Yuko Itatsu on the intersections of social justice and artificial intelligence, framed in discussion with Scotland’s AI Strategy.
Professor Itatsu will then explore these issues in conversation with panel guests Jen Ang & Dr Marisa De Andrade, exploring trust, ethics and inclusion within the world of AI.
Jen Ang - Co-Founder & Director of Development & Policy, JustRight Scotland
Jen is an international human rights lawyer who enjoys policy work and research, with a particular interest in projects that highlight barriers faced by vulnerable and marginalised groups in realising their rights, and exploring practical solutions to remove those barriers. She is a legal expert on asylum, human rights and children’s rights, and on the rights of survivors of torture, and is regularly asked to speak, and contribute to research, policy and publications in these areas.
Dr Marisa De Andrade - Co-Director, The Binks Hub & Centre for Creative-Relational Inquiry
The Binks Hub is a network of academics researchers, community members, practitioners and policy-makers using creativity and the arts to co-create research that makes a difference to people’s lives. Their research broadly focused on everyday lives and community spaces, social inequalities across the lifecourse and social justice, with co-creative and artistic methods at the core of all their work. Marisa is also the Co-Director for the Centre for Creative-Relational Inquiry, and Joint Winner of the 2023 International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry Book Award.
This two-hour event seeks to:
- Explore how AI can be developed and used in a way that engenders trust among civil society and communities around the globe.
- Examine the ethical implications of AI in the context of social justice.
- Advocate for AI solutions which are inclusive and address the diverse needs of society.
