Productive and performant serverless apps with Rust

Dive into the world of serverless architecture and Rust programming in this comprehensive workshop facilitated by Tim McNamara. Rust is growing in popularity. Learn how to use it to give your customers the benefits of single-second millisecond response times. You'll get to benefit from an incredibly stable system that's been built using a language that's known for its helpful error messages and excellent developer tooling.

This in-depth workshop tutorial, you'll be shown how to build three applications that can be easily deployed into cloud.

1) To start, you'll be shown how to create an application. We'll discuss the process of setting up Rust for development, working with Rust's web frameworks and making your first build.

2) In the second, you'll be invited to finish an incomplete application and fix a few errors that you'll then deploy. If you've never used Rust, that's okay! Tim will be there to help guide you through the process.

3) For the third, you'll be given a small exercise to complete either by yourself or within pairs. This will give you the chance to bed in your knowledge and give you something that you'll walk away with.

We'll finish up by discussing how Rust can fit in with the rest of the stack. It's likely that the bulk of your serverless functions are written in TypeScript or Python today. Let's make sure not to lose any of that knowledge and instead find areas where Rust can be most helpful.

About the instructor: Tim McNamara

Tim McNamara is one of the world's leading Rust educators and runs a consultancy in the language called [accelerant.dev](https://accelerant.dev). Previously the global head of Rust language education at AWS, he is the lead content creator for the official Rust training program offered by the Rust Foundation, author of the world-renowned textbook Rust in Action, and host of a popular YouTube channel offering tutorials in the language. He has held positions in his career, spanning AWS, Canonical, the New Zealand eScience Infrastructure, and a number of data science consultancies.
